I wished for a camera that could take a photo of the present, the past and, maybe even the future — all at the same time. Without that magical camera, I photographed different locations in San Francisco. Next, I photographed natural areas in the Bay Area. I chose places that appear as San Francisco once did before the city rose up on its windswept peninsula.
For each work I selected a set of photos to cut, slice and reconfigure to show both a present and a past. Each work contains an image of a place in San Francisco interspersed with images of the location’s natural past. The results are a glimpse into to how San Francisco would have appeared prior to the arrival of Europeans.
